Imprivata offers free of charge software to enable virtual patient visits and safer communication with care providers during the COVID-19 pandemic
Free Imprivata GroundControl provisioning licences facilitate easier management of mobile devices for safer COVID-19 interactions and more efficient use of scarce PPE resources
Imprivata is providing free of charge access to its GroundControl device provisioning software for healthcare organisations around the world to support their responses to COVID-19. GroundControl facilitates easier management and use of iPads and other iOS devices to make possible a range of interactions with seriously ill patients in much safer ways.
Examples of how GroundControl enables interactions between patients, clinicians and close relatives via mobile devices include:
- remote communication with care providers
- virtual patient visits with loved ones
- inpatient telehealth consultations
Utilising mobile devices for communications delivers more separation and safety for healthcare providers, while minimising the need for multiple changes of PPE. GroundControl’s TeleHealth capabilities mean patients can contact and communicate with staff without having to be in the same room. By replacing some of the physical contacts between clinicians and patients with virtual ones, there is a reduction in the number of times staff need to change scarce PPE equipment, saving both time and valuable resources.
University of Rochester Medical Center provides another example of GroundControl in action during the pandemic. It manages shared patient iPads to support restricted visits between COVID-19 patients and loved ones at times when face-to face contact may not be possible.
